A Multipronged Approach to Address the Challenges of the Informal Sector in India

About Us

Founded in 2023, The Saath Janvikas Multipurpose Seva Sahkari Mandali Ltd. (SJMPC) is a community-owned institution built on the belief that development is strongest when led by people themselves. Established by Saath Charitable Trust in collaboration with Janvikas, it draws from over three decades of experience in strengthening grassroots institutions and expanding access for underserved communities.

Our Vision

"A world where communities thrive through collective action, sustainable practices, and equitable growth."

Our Mission

"To unlock the potential of informal sector workers and marginalized urban communities by building organized, market-linked, and inclusive platforms that ensure their recognition and participation as equal contributors to the economy and society."

Why It Matters

India’s informal sector—comprising 92% of the workforce—remains fragmented, under-served, and highly vulnerable to systemic shocks. Migrants, women, and the urban poor are often excluded from formal systems, limiting their access to opportunities, protections, and essential services.

SJMPC exists to bridge this gap.

Our Approach

A structured pathway to systematic change and community resilience.

SJMPC works by organizing informal workers and micro-entrepreneurs into transparent, member-owned collectives. It strengthens livelihoods through a threefold approach—building people-led institutions, enabling access to markets, and facilitating linkages with systems and services. Supported by a practical digital backbone, this model enhances incomes, builds resilience, and ensures social and economic recognition for its members.
